Potassium Iodide (IOSAT) is designed for use immediately following an emergency situation that releases radiation to the atmosphere such as an accident at a nuclear power plant or a dirty bomb attack by terrorist that releases radiation to the atmosphere. It works by helping to block the uptake of radioactive iodine by the thyroid gland.
